Practicing Addition Strategies
We investigated data collection and graphing with skittles candies! We created bar graphs showing the number of each skittle color we had in our bags.
Polygons and 3D Shapes
We used pipe cleaners and straws to make models of different polygons: triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons, and octagons. We then took on the challenge to transform these plane (flat) figures into three dimensional shapes.
We learned that:
triangle = 3 sides, 3 angles
quadrilateral = 4 sides, 4 angles
pentagon = 5 sides, 5 angles
hexagon = 6 sides, 6 angles
heptagon = 7 sides, 7 angles
octagon = 8 sides, 8 angles
