Reading for Chickens

Dear Third Graders,

Something to look forward to this year is the Reading for Chickens Program. The invitiation to become a member of this "Grade A" society of readers has arrived. Students will read two books and write entries in their reading response journal to receive each adorable rubber chicken. Parents can get involved by motivating their child to read "just right" books. Here is a website to help you choose "just right" books. Later in the year students can earn clothes for their chickens. In past years, students have written poems and stories dedicated to their chickens!
